FAQ

Can I leave the label on my candle?

Please remove the label as soon as you plan to burn the candle.

Do you add scents to your candles?

No, we don't add scents, flower petals, or essential oils to our candles as burning those creates a toxic smokeand we want our candles to provide their natural benefits. The honey like scent is all natural.

Can I place the candle in a hurricane container?

Hurricane glasses or tightly fitting containers are not recommended as beeswax has a high melting point and burns at a hotter temperature than other waxes. The glass/container creates a convection effect that disturbs the air flow around the candle and retains extra heat inside the glass. This can cause wicks to smoke and burn faster and dripping of the candle but it can cause the candle walls to collapse.

Why do my candles get a white cloudy film?

This is called bloom and is normal for all pure beeswax candles. Similar to chocolate, in pure beeswax candles white fat crystals can migrate to the surface. This can happen a few weeks to a few month after the candle is made. It's a sign of purity and quality of the wax.

You can either leave the layer on and enjoy the rustic look or reveal the original surface look by wiping the candle with a soft cloth, applying gentle heat with a hair dryer, or placing the candle in warm sunlight.

How are the candles packaged?

The candles are placed in natural cotton bags, which you can re-use for other things later on. Besides that we use paper and carton boxes to keep things as sustainable as possible.

How long do your candles burn?

The burning time depends on the size of the candle, the quality of the wax and environmental conditions.

These are our approximate burn times:

  • Bee Light-Hearted Pilar about 30h

  • Peaceful Moon Candle about 18h

  • Angel with Heart about 9h

  • Sun & Moon Couple about 6h

  • Bee Light-Hearted Tea Lights about 2.5h

Is soy wax as good as beeswax?

Most soy beans are genetically-modified and grown by Monsanto. Soy bean farming also uses chemicals and pesticides.

Soy is not a natural wax. It's a heavy metal hydro-generated oil. And many soy candles add palm oil to firm them up.

Another point is that soy plantations cause a huge problem with deforestation. So using soy candles further adds to this problem.

Beeswax on the other hand is a natural product that is produced by bees. Beekeepers recycle the wax by harvesting the honey, melting the wax, cleaning it and turning it into new middle walls.
